WHY AMANDA REID FOR MAYOR?
I’m running for Mayor because I believe in Mapleton, I believe in our communities, and I believe in what we can accomplish when we work together.
My journey in municipal leadership started with a desire to make a difference in the community I call home. Since being elected as a Councillor, I’ve had the opportunity to listen to residents, work alongside Council and our staff, advocate for our communities, and gain a deeper understanding of both the opportunities and challenges facing Mapleton.
But my commitment to Mapleton goes far beyond the Council table.
I’ve always believed that strong communities are built by people who are willing to get involved. Through my involvement with the Alma Optimist Club, school community, Girl Guides, Crime Stoppers and other community initiatives, I’ve seen firsthand what can happen when residents come together to support one another.
MAPLETON, TOGETHER
Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of being part of a Council that has delivered meaningful results for Mapleton. Together, we have:
- Secured Wastewater and Infrastructure funding. We secured massive funding including a joint provincial and municipal boost totaling $26.1 million dollars in partnership with Wellington North, as well as an independent $9.8 million investment upgrade to help expand our local wastewater facilities.
- $4.77 Million Project Upgrades for the Enhancement and Expansion of the PMD Arena and Community Center.
- Created our Municipal Services Corporation (Northern Maple Utilities, NMU INC) in the spring of 2025 to manage and finance our local water and wastewater services. A self-sustaining municipal entity where utility fees fund utility operations while remaining owned by the township. We as a township are constantly recognized for this municipal achievement.
- Approved our updated Asset Management plan successfully reaching full provincial compliance for sustainable long term municipal service and infrastructure planning. Being able to plan ahead is so crucial to our planning and fiscal responsibility.
- New Catholic elementary school coming to Drayton, and a child care centre set to open at that school later this year.
- Implemented key community documents that create the Mapleton progress including our 2023 to 2026 Strategic plan, our 2025 Community Improvement plan (CIP) as well as the Economic Development, Arts, Culture and Tourism master plan, helping to shape Mapleton’s future.
- Completed needed upgrades in facilities such as the Maryborough Community Center, PMD Arena Ice Upgrades, local trail network updates, machinery and equipment replacements and upgrades and so much more.
These accomplishments weren’t achieved by one person. They were the result of Council, staff, community partners and residents working together.
I’m proud of the role I played in those decisions, and I’m ready to build on that work as Mayor.

LOOKING AHEAD
I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, but I’m not running for Mayor simply to talk about the past. I’m running because I believe Mapleton has an incredible future ahead of it, and I want to help lead us there.
We need to continue strengthening our infrastructure, supporting economic development and local businesses, protecting what makes our rural communities unique, planning responsibly for growth, and ensuring that every community in Mapleton has a strong voice.
My campaign is built around a simple idea:
Moving Mapleton Forward: Building Tomorrow, Together.
I want to bring people together, listen to different perspectives, work collaboratively, and make decisions with Mapleton’s long-term future in mind.
I’m ready to take the experience I’ve gained as a Councillor, the relationships I’ve built through community involvement and municipal leadership, and my experience advocating for rural Ontario, and put them to work for the entire Township of Mapleton.
I’m running for Mayor because I care deeply about where Mapleton is today, but I care even more about where we can go tomorrow.

I’m ready to lead. I’m ready to listen. And I’m ready to keep Moving Mapleton Forward—Building Tomorrow, Together.
